Learning
The Coalition supports an engaging, continuous learning environment that allows workers to solve challenges, grow as leaders, and integrate high performance in all aspects of their work.

National Functions:
To sustain the Labor Management Partnership on a national scale, Coalition unions build frontline workers’ capacity to partner with management, tap their natural expertise in the day-to-day work, and develop leadership skills they can use to jointly create, test and implement new ways of delivering care and service.
Performance Improvement
The Coalition works to ensure our employees have a voice in improving their work and equips them with the education, tools and expert resources needed to drive the redesign of their work.
Research
The Coalition helps strengthen our local unions and their members by providing the research, data and analytic support needed for well-informed advocacy and decision-making.
Redeployment
Constant changes to the health care industry landscape create a need to consistently prepare workers for new roles and opportunities. The Coalition responds by engaging union and management leaders in ways to help individual workers proactively develop and grow into new jobs or new roles, including under redeployment scenarios.
Total Health
The physical and emotional wellness of workers is a critical union issue – it affects their quality of life and productivity. The Coalition supports our workers’ total health by driving to create work environments that promote healthier behaviors, and providing resources that help front-line workers lead this work—in their workplaces, at home and in their communities.

Workforce Planning and Development
As health care rapidly changes, the Coalition is dedicated to helping individual workers grow in their careers, prepare themselves for new skills, help plan new roles, and understand the value of life-long learning.
Workplace Safety
No one comes to work seeking to get injured. In the interest of making Kaiser Permanente the safest workplace in the industry, the Coalition helps create an environment in which workers are empowered to speak up on safety hazards and strives to create a safe environment to support reporting and resolution.
