Community benefit: Steelworkers lead launch to provide families food

Fontana (May 20th) – The United Steelworkers Inland Empire Joint Civil and Human Rights Committee which consists of Union Leaders and Activists from USW Locals 5632, 8065, 7600, 8599, and 12-192 hosted their Inaugural Community Food Giveaway on May 20th. The Event was held at the USW Local 7600 Union Hall located at 16855 Arrow Blvd Fontana CA 92335.

Volunteers from USW Locals and their families prepared bags of nonperishable food items, along with fruits and vegetables and distributed the donated items to union members and other needy families in the surrounding communities. Community Leader and Fontana City Council Member Jesse Armendarez, joined the dozens volunteers and thanked the Steelworkers for their hard work and the support they are giving to less fortunate members of the Fontana Community, joined USW Volunteers. The Inaugural Food Giveaway was very successful, providing over 40 Families with much needed food. The USW Committee will host the food giveaway every 3rd Saturday of the month.
